Take over strapping duties! A short guide to strap-on play

In the last couple of years, "pegging" has been a rising trend among straight couples, but queer sex has included strap-ons for a long time.

Strap-on, or dildo harness, is an ancient invention, with archeological references dating back thousands of years. However, each of us starts somewhere - we put together a short guide for those interested in strap-on play.

Choose the equipment according to your needs and preferences

There are a lot of different dildos and harnesses on the market. When choosing harnesses and dildos, you should think about your own needs and those of your partner/partners.

Dildos come in different materials, sizes and shapes. There are flexible, realistic, non-representative, double-sided and ejaculating dildos and so on. If the penetrated partner is not experienced in the matter yet, it is not a good idea to start with the biggest dildo, but with a small or medium-sized one.

For some, it is important that the dildo looks like a realistic penis, while others specifically want a dildo that resembles a penis as little as possible. Fortunately, there is a something for every taste!

It would be good for a strap-on dildo to have a wide enough base so that it stays firmly attached to the harness. The wide base also makes the dildo anal safe. If the base is not wide enough, fortunately there are also accessories that provide support for the dildo.

There are also differences in the harness. They are different, from small thongs to more covering boxers. The harness may have, for example, two rings, a changeable ring, a pocket for a bullet vibrator or other special features.

If you want to invest in it, you can get as many tools as you want. That's one big plus side of strappers: you can change the chisel according to your mood!

Many harnesses have plenty of room for adjustment, so the same harness fits even if the body changes over time.

Consider the wearers enjoyment

Dildos can also have pleasure features designed for the wearer, such as an insertable head or a pleasure-bringing design on the bottom.

Grinding cushions are also available separately. Their lining and texture provide the wearer with additional sensations, at the same time acting as a buffer between the wearer's pubic bone and the bottom of the dildo. People who bruise easily or have sensitive pubis should consider getting such a cushion in addition to a dildo.

This combo is nice for both. The NYTC Shilo dildo flexes with the body's movements and the Bumper stimulator pad brings pleasure to the wearer.

Make sure of the quality

Make sure your equipment is made of high-quality and safe materials. Quality really does matter in this matter! What could be more miserable than a low-quality chisel in a rippling harness?

However, quality does not necessarily mean high prices, but you can find high-quality tools even in a more affordable price range.

We always recommend silicone dildos rather than devices made of e.g. TPR, PVC or mixed plastics (FantaSkin, CyberSkin, RealSkin, etc.).

Silicone is of the best quality, because its modification does not require toxic phthalates in the manufacturing process and it is also non-porous, so bacteria and microbes cannot get encased inside the material. Many silicone toys can also withstand boiling, so they can be easily sterilized at home using boiling water. Silicone utensils can also be washed in the dishwasher.

Practice beforehand

You can practice using the strap in advance. Among other things, it's worth learning how to put on a harness, so that in a real situation you don't have to wonder which thong goes where. You can adjust the straps to suit yourself at the same time. It's also worth testing that the dildo definitely fits in the ring and stays firmly in place in the harness.

Putting on a brace for the first time can also be an emotionally powerful experience. It can be associated with positive, negative and confusing feelings. It can arouse arousal, embarrassment, joy, sadness, empowerment, euphoria, dysphoria or new experiences of sexuality and gender. Give yourself time and peace to go through these feelings.

Warming up and getting used to it is important

Sex in fantasy is spontaneous and goes perfectly from start to finish. However, the reality can be different - especially new kinds of sex experiences require sufficient communication, practice and getting used to it.

Before penetrative sex, and especially anal sex, it is important that the parties are relaxed and aroused. It's not worth rushing headlong into the matter, because even in this matter good things will come quietly. The wearer of the strap may not feel properly if the dildo is pushed in, for example, at the wrong angle or too quickly, so for that too, careful tuning, sensitivity to the other's wishes and needs, trust and open communication are essential.

For those new to penetration, it can be helpful to use, for example, dilators or anal plugs before switching to a strapper. The penetration depth can also be increased slowly by using a intercourse buffer, which limits the depth of thrusts. You can then reduce the layers of the bumper at your own pace.

Slippery! And even more sliders!

The importance of lube can never be overemphasized. Lubricant makes intercourse safer and more comfortable, as it reduces friction and rubbing on the mucous membranes, reducing the risk of chafing and ulcers. You should also add a slider if necessary in the middle of the act. With sliders, the cream can be spread evenly over the entire distance.

Please always check that the lubricant you use is suitable for use with the material of the dildo. For example, with silicone dildos, you should always use only a water-based lubricant, as oil- and silicone-based creams can damage the surface of the toy.

Dame Products Alu is a water-based lubricant containing aloe vera that is suitable for use with all toys.

Remember protection?

It may also be appropriate to use a condom with toys. The need is especially emphasized if the equipment is shared between several people! Sexually transmitted diseases can also spread via dildos.

Many dildos are silicone, and it is not recommended to use pre-lubricated condoms with them, as the condom's lubricant may not be compatible with the material of the dildo. For toys, there are dry condoms to which you add the lubricant yourself.
